Capybaras chew so much because their teeth never stop growing! To keep them from getting too long, they spend a lot of time munching on grass and plants.

Fact 15. Crocodiles Sometimes Chill with Capybaras!

Not totally sure how “cool” this one really is from the 15 Cool Facts About Capybaras — but hey, let’s break it down so there’s no confusion.

You might’ve seen pictures of capybaras hanging out next to crocodiles like it’s no big deal — and sometimes, it really isn’t! While crocs (and their smaller cousins, caimans) can eat capybaras, they don’t always do it.

Why?

🔹 Capybaras aren’t exactly easy snacks

They’re pretty big, surprisingly quick in water, and often hang out in groups. And predators like an easy catch.

🔹 If the croc’s not hungry – it won’t bother

Hunting takes energy. If the crocodile isn’t in the mood for a chase, it might just chill and watch instead.

🔹 Capybaras are super chill

They don’t panic, they don’t provoke, they just kind of… exist. That calm energy can actually help them blend in. No drama = no attention.

🔹 Nature has “ceasefire” moments too

Sometimes, when food is plentiful and no one feels threatened, even predators let potential prey hang out nearby. A peaceful break in the wild chaos.

So yes, crocodiles can eat capybaras – but a lot of the time, they simply don’t feel like it. Nature’s full of surprises, right? 🌿

Capybara Vibes, Everywhere!

And let’s be real – kids love all things capybara-themed. I can’t speak for the boys, but with girls? Oh yes, I see it all the time.

One of my daughter’s birthdays was even capybara-themed (yep – full party mode, and I’ll share the full plan in a separate post).

To prove I’m not just making this up, I did a quick scan of the room:

✔️ Capybara Flannel Blanket (we have one just like this – ours isn’t exactly the same, but it looks a lot like it!)

✔️ Plush capybaras (Capybara with a backpack, capybara as a burger, etc.)

✔️ Capybara phone case (My daughter’s friend has this Bubble Blowing Capybara Phone Case – and it’s super fun. They love taking turns squishing it! )

✔️ And I know there’s a capybara sandal charm set stashed away somewhere…

Next up? A capybara pencil case.
